These appear at regular intervals on long interstate stretches, usually with advance notice a mile or more before the actual exit.

Fun Fact

Many U.S. rest areas date to the interstate system's construction in the 1950s and 60s, and were designed as much for driver safety — giving long-haul drivers a mandated place to stop — as for convenience.
